Katie McGlynn is an actress known for her roles as Jodie “Scout” Allen in Waterloo Road (2011–2013) and Sinead Tinker in Coronation Street (2013–2020). She also began appearing in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks as Becky Quentin in 2021. Additionally, she is set to compete in the nineteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Katie McGlynn Strictly Come Dancing

McGlynn was announced as the seventh star on Strictly Come Dancing 2021 line-up. Speaking to the BBC ahead of the announcement, Katie said: “It’s been so hard keeping it a secret, but I can finally say that I’m getting ready to shake my shimmy and become part of the Strictly family!”

“I’m really not a dancer, but I’m so excited to learn a new skill on this crazy journey and cannot wait to slip into some sequins along the way.”
She also added, “Although I do get to have so much fun as an actress, a lot of my roles have involved quite serious and challenging storylines, so I’m fully ready to let my hair down and do something different, even if it is completely outside of my comfort zone.”

“I can’t promise that I’ll be the best, but I’m going to give it 110% on the dance floor! As long as I don’t fall over I’ll be happy.”

McGlynn also appeared in Coronation Street as Sinead Tinker/Osbourne between April 2013 and March 2020.

Having appeared in an episode of BBC1 daytime drama Moving On, and playing minor roles in The Well, Paradox and Leonardo, her first major television role was in Waterloo Road as Jodi “Scout” Allen. In 2021, McGlynn started appearing in the regular role of Becky Quentin in Hollyoaks.

On stage she has appeared in Colin Meredith productions of Aladdin and Babes in the Wood.
