After meeting at a dance studio in 2009, the couple became engaged and later married during their time as Strictly stars. They celebrated their love with three ceremonies in 2017, one in London, another in Janette’s home of Miami, and the third in Aljaz’s home in Slovenia.
Aljaz was born on February 19, 1990, in Ptuj, Slovenia. He is 31 years old. He is also a 19-time Slovenian champion in Ballroom, Latin, and Ten Dance. Between 2000 and 2008 his professional partner was Valerija Rahle Mbanwi.
Since he was 18 years old, Aljaz has been secretly dealing with an ongoing skin condition that has affected his mental health and physical wellbeing. In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, Aljaz opened up about his struggle with psoriasis – an inflammatory skin condition thought to be caused by a weakened immune system. The condition had an immense effect on the star’s wellbeing as he faced Strictly’s stage lights in short-sleeved costumes.
Janette Manrara Wedding
Janette and Aljaz are proud of their heritage, so when it came to their wedding day, the couple decided to have three wedding ceremonies in order to have all of their friends and family celebrate with them.
Their London nuptials included guests Anton Du Beke, Oti Mabuse, Katya Jones, and Kevin Clif ton, as well as former Strictly contestants Daisy Lowe and Frankie Bridge. Designer Julien Macdonald, who was paired with Janette on the hit BBC One show back in 2013, created her dream wedding dress for the London ceremony, which she said was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in the 1954 movie Sabrina. They then jetted off to Slovenia for another ceremony with Aljaz’s family, before heading to Miami to celebrate with Janette’s loved ones.
“To say that we got to walk down the aisle, exchange our vows and celebrate our marriage three times is really nice,” she told OK! magazine.

Janette Manrara Strictly Come Dancing 2021
Manrara is the host of the Strictly 2021 spin-off show It Takes Two, alongside Rylan Clark. She replaced Zoe Ball, who announced her departure from the programme in May 2021 after 10 years at the helm. Manrara, therefore, did not continue as a professional dancer on the show.
In June, she announced that she was stepping down from the BBC programme’s main show. Her last partner on Strictly was the singer HRVY, and together they reached the 2020 finals. She revealed that It Takes Two is her dream gig but admitted that she would be sad to no longer take part in the competition itself.
Speaking on The One Show, she told host Alex Jones: “I will not be dancing. I don’t want to well up because I have been welling up a lot today…
“But that has been the hardest part of accepting this amazing honor to join It Takes Two.
“It’s the realization that I will not be on that legendary Strictly dancefloor anymore. But I feel that this is the most beautiful and natural progression.
“I am still a part of the Strictly family, I am still going to be seeing my fellow pros all the time and I will keep dancing, as they say. I will find a way to keep dancing.’
Manrara began performing in musical theatre at age 12, and started her formal dance training at 19, studying ballroom, ballet, pointe, jazz, and hip-hop.
Janette Manrara Glee
Apart from Strictly Come Dancing, Janette is also known for starring in Glee, a musical TV Series that aired from 2009 until 2015.
Janette began appearing in Ryan Murphy’s show as a principal dancer back in 2010 after she wowed producers thanks to her performance on the US dance competition So You Think You Can Dance. She showed off her moves in a number of episodes that also starred series regulars such as Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and the late Naya Rivera.
Soon after appearing in Glee, which ran for six seasons, Janette crossed the pond and became a professional on the BBC ballroom competition in 2013. Janette’s first appearance came in series 11 and she was paired with fashion designer Julien Macdonald.
