He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies and serves on the board of trustees. The Newy Scruggs Sports Broadcasting Scholarship was established in 2003 for students who desire careers in the sports media.
Later on, he earned an MBA in Business Administration and Management from Texas Christian University – M.J. Neeley School of Business.
