From there, she worked in Bryan/College Station, Texas, at KAGS HD News. She returned to Kansas and worked at KAKE News, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas, for nearly 5 years. Her work in Wichita included covering the Kansas City Royals’ Road to the World Series and traveling down to Houston, Texas, to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. It’s a story that hit very close to home.
Monica also reported on national news stories while at WHIO in Dayton, Ohio, such as the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes where 19 tornadoes touched down across the Miami Valley. She was the first on the scene for WHIO following the Oregon District mass shooting where a gunman killed 9 people and wounded more than a dozen others.
When she isn’t working, she loves catching a game! She loves ALL sports, and you can catch her rooting for her Houston, KC, and K-State teams. She’s a foodie and loves trying all the new food spots in town.
