Chad Pergram Education
Pergram graduated from Edgewood High School in Trenton. While in High School, he started his radio career at a major Cincinnati station (WKRC-AM) in 1987. He also attended backroom lunches at Middletown’s old Liberty Restaurant with politicians Bill Donham, John Boehner, Tony Valen and other prominent Butler County Republicans.
Additionally, while in Edgewood Pergram applied to WLW-AM, the station which broadcast Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall calling Reds games, and WKRC-AM, which had the Bengals. WLW-AM never called him back, and WKRC-AM carried the Bengals.
WKRC-AM offered him an unpaid internship. He drove to the Mount Auburn studio (in the Channel 12 building) when Edgewood classes ended at 2:30 p.m. Eventually news director Richard Hunt put him on the air, and hired him to do overnight newscasts.
In 1993, Chad received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Miami University. He also earned a Master’s degree in Communication from Miami University.
While at the University, he lived down the street from future Speaker of the House and Republican vice presidential nominee, Paul Ryan.

A native of Jacksonburg, Chad was raised by his parents. His father, Ray was very much into baseball.
At an early age, Pergram already had an interest in Journalism. He wanted to be a sportswriter or a sports broadcaster or do news. He developed an interest in politics and news from listening to his grandfather’s stories about Cox.
James M. Cox was the Dayton Daily News owner. He served two terms as Ohio governor and was also the Democratic Party candidate for U.S. president in 1920. Chad grew up in tiny Jacksonburg near his mansion.

The award winning journalist is married. He married his long time girlfriend, Carrie Giddins Pergram in November 2011 in an intimate, private wedding ceremony.

Pergram is a congressional correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC) based out of Washington, D.C. He joined the network in September 2007.
On January 6th, 2021, Chad reported live from inside the Capitol building as it was mobbed by rioters. From the basement where he was barricaded, he provided critical information on the situation for fifteen hours straight on the air until the building was secured.
Additionally, he was a staple of FNC’s coverage of the first and second impeachments of President Trump, breaking down the procedural elements and providing timely analysis. According to Nielsen Media Research, FNC’s special coverage of the impeachment hearings outpaced all of broadcast and cable news coverage. He continues to report on the second round proceedings against the former president as they continue in 2021.

Prior to becoming a congressional correspondent, Pergram served as a senior Capitol Hill producer. He covered a range of historical moments from Capitol Hill, including the 2010 and 2018 midterm elections, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Justice Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation hearings and the 2016 presidential election cycle. He also covered various legislative hallmarks and showdowns, including the 2010 passage of both the Affordable Care Act and Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform, the 2011 debt-ceiling fight, tax reform in 2017, as well as the 2018-2019 government shutdown, the longest in U.S. history.
From his years of reporting, Pergram has gained a particular expertise in House and Senate procedure, especially the workings of appropriations, intelligence and foreign policy.
In 2017, just blocks from his residence in Alexandria, Virginia, a gunman opened fire at a baseball practice for Republican members of Congress ahead of the annual Congressional game, critically wounding then-House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and injuring several others. Pergram led the breaking news coverage and followed the story throughout Scalise’s recovery.
Previously, Pergram served as a reporter for Capitol News Connection. Additionally, he produced and anchored newscasts for NPR in Washington and served as a Senate producer for C-SPAN. He began his career as a reporter at WKRC-AM in Cincinnati and WKRC-TV, the ABC affiliate at the time, before joining the Cincinnati Public Radio-operated WMUB-FM in Oxford, OH. While at WKRC-AM, he covered the first congressional race of then-little known John Boehner, who would go on to serve as Speaker of the House.
