She was able to work for the first time, pay for her own English lessons, and study at night for her O-levels while raising three children.
Sangita grew up in hardship alongside her two siblings. Her mother worked various jobs to provide for the family, including selling jewelry door-to-door in central London, stacking shelves, clerical work, and even becoming a part-time benefits officer working alone on one of the toughest estates in London. Her father, on the other hand, struggled with family life, and leaving Africa broke his heart. He never fully recovered.

Myska started her career as a member of the BBC News trainee reporter scheme, specializing in radio. She completed her final attachment at BBC Radio Sheffield where she worked as a staff reporter before becoming a producer on the channel’s Drivetime show hosted by Dean “Pips” Pepall. After gaining experience in local broadcasting, she was promoted to a national role as a producer for BBC Radio Five Live. Later, she took up a production position on Five Live’s television equivalent, BBC News 24. In 1997, she made her first appearance on camera as a news reporter for BBC Scotland.
In 2001, Myska won the BBC’s Talent competition, which led to her national television debut on BBC One’s long-running Holiday travel show. She also appeared in one of its spin-offs, Summer Holiday. In 2002, she returned to BBC News as a correspondent on BBC One’s national bulletins. The same year, she fronted a six-part undercover investigation into car crime and consumer fraud on BBC Two.
