Hunt joined CNN in September 2021 after more than eight years at NBC News where she was most recently anchor of Way Too Early and a regular contributor to Morning Joe after anchoring Kasie DC on Sunday nights. She also served as NBC News Capitol Hill Correspondent and played a lead role in 2020 election night coverage for the network. She joined NBC News as an off-air reporter and producer covering Congress and politics and started appearing regularly on MSNBC as a political reporter and later a political correspondent before becoming an anchor.

In 2022 Hunt had a brain tumor surgery. The surgery was done after her doctor found growth — possibly a brain tumor — deep in her cerebellum (the portion of the brain in the back of the head that is important for coordinating motor function). It first started as a migraine. It was actually her father’s history of migraines — her sister has them, too — that seemed to offer a likely explanation when Hunt began experiencing headaches.
But in August, to everyone’s surprise, a follow-up scan just as Hunt was about to embark on her new role at CNN+ showed the tumor was growing.
The toughest part of the surgery was locating the pea-sized tumor and extracting it without causing any damage to surrounding tissue. “We sent it to Pathology, and to our delight, it was a hemangioblastoma, which is a really good thing,” says Yoshor. “Once you take it out, you’re usually cured for life.”
