Gilligan isn’t married. However, he is dating Sophie Wise. He confirmed he was dating former Hollyoaks actress Sophie who played Carly in the Channel 4 soap in 2015, in 2018. Currently, the couple lives together in his new home in North London.
“I looked at Surrey, a lot of people in TV move out there, but I work a lot in London so I bought in North London. I bought a five-bedroom semi-detached house,” Gilligan said.
“I’m the first person in my family to buy a property so it’s a big deal. A lot of my family and friends will be coming over.”
Gilligan started his house hunt in January last year and tried Forest Hill but he kept getting recognized. He said: “[It was] nice but not when you’re looking for a house and want a level of privacy. He plans to do a little renovating and decorating, adding: “Hopefully one day my kids will grow up in this house. Me and my girlfriend won’t be moving for a little while.”
However, when it comes to decor, it sounds like it will be Sophie’s choice as Gilligan said: “A lot of it will be my girlfriend’s choice. She’s been on Pinterest for years.
“I once bought a rug, she saw it, said it was horrible, and it’s been rolled up ever since. I got it from Ikea. It was like an old Persian rug but had ‘Keep Off’ written on the pattern. I thought it was cool, but she hated it.”
Mo Gilligan The BRIT Awards 2022
On February 8, 2022, Mo made his debut hosting the Brit awards taking over from Jack Whitehall who presented it for four years. He is also making history this year as the first Black presenter of the annual awards ceremony, and before the show, he admitted it was an “absolute privilege” to be leading the ceremony this year.
He said at the time: “It’s an absolute privilege to host the 2022 BRIT Awards. I’m truly honored to be asked. I promise we’re going to give it all – we’ve got to create an incredible night for music fans everywhere. Let’s go!”
Viewers were fascinated with his performance as they took to Twitter to praise him. One wrote: “Omg Mo Gilligan presenting the brits this year. Thank u.” Another said: “Petition for Mo to present the Brits every year from now on.” And a third said: “Mo Gilligan is brilliant.”
Mo, however, apologized after swearing live on air as he hosted the BRIT Awards 2022. Apologizing for his faux pas, he admitted he had “got carried away”, as veteran presenter Maya reassured him that it happens to everyone before the duo decided to down a shot each.
“I got carried away,” he said as he addressed the camera about his slip-up.”
