Camerota had infertility issues, she struggled with getting pregnant. In 2010, she appeared on The Today Show to discuss her infertility issues and served as host of the National Infertility Associations “Night of Hope Celebration.”
She explained that as a couple they spent three years struggling to conceive, starting at age 35. She also talked about the importance of having a support group when battling fertility issues.
Alisyn also wrote about the struggle in a 2010 piece for SELF Magazine. After struggling for long they decided to try in vitro fertilization. In vitro fertilization worked and she got pregnant twice however both resulted in miscarriages.
Throughout the whole process she described her husband as being “supportive and wonderful.”
“I thought, This will never work, we will never have a child, I will be deprived of this thing that is so important to me—a family. He always said, ‘We will have a family whether by hook or by crook.’ He was open to adoption—that was very comforting to me.”
During the fourth IVF cycle they became pregnant with their twin daughters. Getting pregnant with her son was a happy surprise; she didn’t realize she was pregnant until 16 weeks, she said.

Her interviews with the Parkland student survivors in the hours after the massacre, as well as with the NRA, became integral parts of the national conversation on gun safety. In covering the 2016 and 2020 president elections, Alisyn’s Voter Panels were must-see viral moments. As a leading voice of the #MeToo movement, Alisyn helped to provide the #SilenceBreakers with a platform to tell their stories.
Camerota has also anchored a number of primetime specials, including “Tipping Point: Sexual Harassment in America” and “The Hunting Ground: Sexual Assault on Campus.” She is on the national advisory council of The News Literacy Project, which works to teach kids how to spot misinformation and fake news. While based in New York City, she began co-hosting America’s News Headquarters, with Bill Hemmer, beginning on September 30, 2013, in the Monday to Friday 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. ET time slot. Alisyn Camerota Sexual Harassments
In 2017, Alisyn opened up about the abuse and harassment from former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes.
“Certainly, there is sexual harassment and it is unpleasant, and it was certainly unpleasant to be on the receiving end of that,” Camerota said on BuzzFeed News’ Profile. “But even on the days when that wasn’t happening, there was an all-powerful man who held the keys to your future in his palm and who wielded power in a really sort of unpleasant, bullying way.”
She also added that Ailes argued that she was not politically conservative enough for the network and wanted her to ask questions that weren’t “fact-based.”
“The sexual harassment was the least of it,” Camerota told Profile host Audie Cornish. “There was sexual harassment and there was emotional harassment. And there was sort of bullying and there was ideological harassment.”
She accused Ailes of sexual harassment alongside 20 other women. Ailes however resigned after former anchor Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit alleging that she had been fired for turning down his sexual advances.
In May 2017 at age 77, Ailes died.
