Theo’s father Terry died of leukemia and since then he’s been determined to help the Leukemia Research Fund in its search for a cure. In 2005, he ran at the London Marathon to help raise badly needed funds for Leukemia Research.
Theo who was hoping to complete the grueling 26-mile course in a little over four hours said: “If I can make it to the finishing line, I don’t care whether it takes me two hours or 10. I just want to get there!”
He added: “ The progress over the past few years has been incredible. There are people out there who are living happy lives who just a few years ago simply wouldn’t have survived.
“But there’s still a lot to be done. And that takes money. If you look at it that way, a few blisters are a small price to pay.”

Leggett is an International Business Correspondent for BBC News since March 2014. He provides daily coverage of business and technology stories, both for the BBC’s international outlets and for national radio and TV bulletins, including flagship programmes on BBC1 and Radio 4.
Theo takes interest in the automotive and aerospace sectors, and provide rapid, authoritative analysis of breaking news stories (eg loss of flight MH370, the Germanwings crash). He is also frequently involved in covering energy and environmental issues.
Some of his documentary credits include “Can the World Get Richer Forever?”, a self-produced programme which questioned the common assumption that economic growth can continue indefinitely, and looked at how physical constraints will increasingly come into play. Other documentary work includes a 2013 TV and radio production “What If…we all had a car?”, which examined how there may be 4 billion cars on the road around the world by 2050, and how vehicles themselves could become tools to prevent gridlock.
Previously Theo was a Referendum Reporter (Political Unit) for BBC Millbank. He was also a Business Reporter and Presenter. In this post, he regularly presented World Business Report, a half hour business news programme on the BBC World Service. He also worked as a business reporter, for BBC World TV, the BBC News Channel, BBC Online and Radio 5 Live.
Prior to becoming a Business Reporter and Presenter he was Europe Business Reporter. Based in Brussels, he was responsible for providing coverage of business and economics stories from around the EU, across all BBC outlets.
Leggett began his career in 1996 as a News Editor for EC Inform. In 1999 he was appointed staff journalist for Swiss Radio International followed by as a Business Producer/Reporter for BBC in March 2000.
