Since Mar 2020 she has been working as a Political Reporter and Host of “Politically Speaking” at NBC Universal, where she reports political and general assignment news for NBC San Diego newscasts and is also the lead reporter for election and political coverage, moderates congressional and mayoral debates. Additionally, she hosts a weekly political show, “Politically Speaking”, that airs after “Meet the Press” on Sundays. Priya interviews key leaders and lawmakers like Senator Padilla, members of San Diego’s congressional delegation, local Mayors, County Supervisors, City Council Members, Police Chiefs, School Board Presidents, and more.
Working as a Reporter for KPBS in Greater San Diego Area between Aug 2018 – Mar 2020, she covered general assignments and breaking news and in-depth features around San Diego County for radio, web, and TV platforms. As a Naval Officer at US Navy Reserve since 2015, she was selected for a direct commission as a Naval Public Affairs officer by the Secretary of the Navy, during which Priya received seven months of intensive public affairs training from the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, MD. After which, she graduated from the Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course at Naval Station Newport, RI, and mobilized on orders in support of Exercise Cobra Gold in Thailand, Pacific Sentry in Pearl Harbor, and Northern Edge in Anchorage, AK.
At Arise News she was the Morning Show Co-Host from Oct 2014 to Oct 2015 in Greater New York City Area. She co-hosted a morning news show with Rain Pryor (Richard Pryor’s daughter) from 8 to 10 A.M. on Saturday and Sunday from New York City and interviewed newsmakers, artists, musicians, entertainment icons, moderated roundtables, and participated in food and exercise demonstrations.
Serving as Washington and Special Correspondent between Sep 2014 – Oct 2015 in Washington D.C. Metro Area, Priya worked on the weekdays and did live shots from D.C. to anchors in London and New York City about the Obama administration, the economy, and foreign policy. During this period she served as a special correspondent covering major international stories, spending six weeks in Nigeria covering the 2015 presidential elections and other enterprise stories, and also spent several weeks in London serving as a fill-in anchor.
