Flash forward a few years and she completed two broadcasting internships – one at WFMZ-TV and one at FOX 29 in Philadelphia the summer before landing her first job in Wilmington, North Carolina at WECT.
Kellie spent almost five years in the coastal Carolinas and loved every minute! She guided southeast North Carolina through hurricanes, tornadoes, snow, and ice storms and was happy to take breaks in between to enjoy many sunny beach days. Her most memorable weather event was an Emmy-nominated 80+ hours covering Hurricane Florence in 2018 and most recently a rare EF-3 tornado in February of 2021.
Aside from forecasting, Kellie loves to visit and talk to school children and also has a love for the ocean. She has taken surf lessons, flown a helicopter, and willingly gone into a rip current to teach lessons about beach safety. She is also thrilled to have turned her curiosity into her career and is excited about this full-circle experience as part of her hometown weather team!
