In 2021, Jenna won the Suncoast Regional Emmy Award for the Reporter-Investigative category. Her investigation, Abuse of Access changed state law. It revealed systemic issues with how government workers, including law enforcement officers, handle Florida drivers’ sensitive personal information. Because of this investigation, the state legislature passed a law that increased training for every law enforcement officer in Florida and quadrupled the penalty for misusing electronic state-run databases.
The Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists also honored Jenna in 2021 with its award for Individual Achievement – Reporter in a Large TV Market.
In 2020, Jenna won a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award in the Reporter – Specialty Assignment category. She also won a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award in the Politics/Government category for her investigation aBUSed, which uncovered a spike in attacks on Hillsborough County bus drivers.
Jenna’s investigation Unfiltered exposed the state is being kept in the dark about deadly infections after surgery. Also, her investigation Seized revealed a nationwide pattern of epileptics getting arrested and, sometimes, killed by police during seizures when officers mistook their outbursts for intoxication. Additionally, she exposed that a majority of school districts in Tampa Bay were failing to comply with a law meant to protect sick kids. Because of her story, the state demanded all school districts comply within months or face consequences.
A Florida native, she came to Tampa Bay from WJAX/WFOX-TV in Jacksonville, where she was an investigative and general assignment reporter for four years.
Jenna won a 2019 Suncoast Regional Emmy Award for Politics/Government for her investigative series, Gaps in Oversight of Military Moving Contractors. After her stories, the federal agency that coordinates military families’ moves made nationwide changes. She won the Florida Associated Press Award for Reporter in a Medium TV Market in 2018 and 2017. She was also a finalist for the award in 2016 and 2015.
Before moving to Jacksonville, Jenna was the Greenville, S.C. Bureau Chief at WSPA-TV from 2013 to 2015. Her investigation into how South Carolina was unknowingly licensing sex offenders to be chiropractors and residential plumbers led to the state agency changing its licensing practices, three state investigations, and a state senator introducing a bill to change the law.
Jenna was a multimedia journalist at WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wisconsin from 2011 to 2013. While in La Crosse, her reporting on the deadly trend of heroin flooding the community won an Associated Press Award for Hard News.
