Previously, Knowles served as a correspondent for BET News and covered the presidential inauguration in 2013. She was also an anchor/sideline reporter for Fox Sports covering the Detroit Pistons. She anchored “Big 12 This Week” on ESPNU, a weekly college sports show centered around the Big 12 Conference that broadcasts nationally. During the last five years, Melissa could be seen on the sidelines reporting on many college football, basketball, and lacrosse games on the ESPN family of networks.
