Gilmore is a Meteorologist at WTSP-TV in Tampa, Florida area. He joined the team in March 2017.
“I can honestly say that I really don’t have a favorite type of weather because each type offers unique characteristics and forecast challenges. That said… having grown up in Michigan I have become quite fond of the warmth and sunshine here in Florida. You will most likely see our family with our chocolate lab Ollie taking advantage of all of the amazing things this area has to offer. If you ever see us out please come up and say hello… we look forward to meeting you,” Gilmore says.
Prior to joining WTSP-TV, he was a Chief Meteorologist at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He served for four years and covered everything from devastating hurricanes to crippling winter storms and everything in between.
In 2014, Gilmore earned his first Emmy award for his coverage of the 2014 North Carolina Valentine’s Day Snow Storm. He has also held the distinction of being a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the American Meteorological Society since 2009.
Following his graduation from the University of North Carolina Asheville, Gilmore started his broadcast career at WMAZ in Macon, Georgia.
