Richard Gaisford Health
On February 25th, 2024, Richard, the chief correspondent of the ITV morning news show, was admitted to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for an unplanned medical procedure. He had developed an infection in his leg during a trip to Ukraine that did not respond to antibiotics. Seeking medical advice, he went to the hospital and was admitted for emergency surgery.
After the operation, Richard shared an update and expressed his gratitude for the many kind messages he received. He clarified that he wasn’t at death’s door and that he wasn’t “rushed” to the hospital. He also emphasized that he was thankful for the support he received and relieved to report that he was doing well.
The doctors decided that an immediate operation was necessary to open up the affected area and clean out the infection. Richard now has a big hole, but hopefully, nothing nasty is left inside. He should be back working soon, but he might not return to the frontlines for a while.
Richard added that he was still a little bemused by all the interest he received, but he invited people to take a look at their recent assignment in Ukraine under the username_1. He believes we must not forget the suffering of people there, which is much more significant than his health issues.
