Who is Lizzie Pearl? Lizzie is a senior news journalist in the Nine Network’s Sydney newsroom. Her career with Nine has given her a front-row seat to some of the biggest and most interesting stories of our time.
As the network’s US Correspondent based in Los Angeles, Lizzie covered the devasting Hurricane Irma, wildfires across California, Las Vegas- the largest mass shooting in United States history, the coldest Superbowl ever in Minneapolis, red carpets galore and the first two turbulent years of the Trump Presidency. She was also sent to Rio de Janeiro for an extensive assignment reporting on Marcelo Santoro, a Brazilian national who fled to his home country after allegedly killing his former girlfriend in Sydney.
In Nine’s London bureau, Lizzie joined the eyes of the world’s media for the “Great Kate Wait” and was there for the birth of the future king- Prince George. A few years later, she was back at the Lindo Wing when baby Princess Charlotte arrived. And was lucky enough to be inside the walls of Windsor Castle as Prince Harry and Meghan tied the knot.
She enjoys a good crime story. As the Sydney court reporter, she covered the work of some of the city’s most colorful crime figures; Matthew Milat the great-nephew of back-packer killer Ivan Milat, who was also convicted of murder in the notorious Belanglo State Forest; cliff top killer Des Campbell and Keli Lane- convicted over the death of her newborn baby Teagan. She also reported on the trial of Mark Standen; the former NSW Crime Commission boss who used his position to conspire to import 300 kgs of drugs.
Lizzie also worked in the NSW Parliament Press Gallery during the Premiership of Mike Baird. A tumultuous time in state politics as ten Liberal MPs were joined the crossbench or quit politics during explosive ICAC hearings.
She has worked in newsrooms since she was 21 and has a passion for giving the little guy a voice. She started out in regional TV as a reporter at WIN in Orange and Wollongong, she’s worked as a newsreader and producer at ABC Radio, as well as a producer at the ITV news channel and APTN in London.
