He has been forecasting weather for over three decades in Boston and joined Channel 5 in December of 2006. Prior to that, he served as the chief meteorologist at Boston’s WLVI for 13 years and also worked as the chief meteorologist at WTVR in Richmond, Virginia, and KTIV in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mike is a highly celebrated meteorologist with numerous awards to his name, including 17 regional NATAS Boston/New England Emmy® Awards for weather coverage and technology reporting. He also uses his racing expertise to instruct local law enforcement motorcycle officers how to ride safely at high speeds as a member of the Fishtail Riding School.
Mike is a member of the American Meteorological Society and has earned his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation. He is also a guest science lecturer at area schools and universities, speaking on various topics including climate change, media, severe weather, nuclear disasters, and children’s issues. Additionally, he is actively involved in various local charitable organizations and served as the past Chairman of the Chornobyl Children Project USA.
