Hoppough graduated from the University of Kansas, and upon graduation, he immediately began working for KFOX-TV in El Paso, Texas as a multimedia journalist. He then moved to Denver, Colorado to work for the Denver7 as a multimedia journalist before taking a position with the Scripps National Team, specializing in long-form storytelling.
