Abo began her career in television as an archiving and production assistant in Network 10’s Adelaide newsroom. She was later promoted to a Ten News reporter. After two years, she returned to Melbourne and continued her work as a reporter for Network 10 for three more years.
In 2013, Abo moved to SBS Television where she worked as a presenter and reporter for shows like SBS World News, Dateline, Insight, and Small Business Secrets. She completed a fellowship at CNN in Atlanta in 2014.
In 2019, Abo joined the Nine Network as a 60 Minutes reporter. She has also filled in as a co-host on Nine’s breakfast show Today on several occasions, including in March 2022 when regular co-host Allison Langdon contracted COVID-19.

The Nine Network praised Abo’s performance as moderator and announced their intention to report Latham’s comments to the authorities.
In November 2022, the Nine Network announced Abo as the new co-host of their breakfast program Today, replacing Allison Langdon who was appointed as the host of A Current Affair upon Tracy Grimshaw’s retirement.
