During the talk, she expressed the emotional torture the whole thing has caused her. She talked with her dad that morning before the incident and to date, she has not believed that he could do that.
Her sister was pregnant with Talia, his father’s first granddaughter at the time he committed suicide.

She was on assignment in New Hampshire when she received a text with a photo of a golden retriever puppy in South Korea, with the message: “This dog is coming in this weekend. Do you want him?”
Ironically, she and her husband were in the market for a golden retriever, so this was ideal timing, to say the least. Randi says that the text came from a woman named Linda Ripps who had started a Florida-based retriever rescue group called Golden Retrievals. Her organization helps rescue dogs in Florida, across the US, and South Korea.

Since joining the network in December 2004 she has covered breaking news in addition to providing in-depth investigative reports. In 2016, Kaye covered the presidential campaigns of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. In 2013, Kaye covered Barack Obama’s Presidential Inauguration and anchored from Washington D.C. She also reported and hosted CNN documentaries on the decade-long mystery of British toddler Madeleine McCann, the LAPD manhunt for Christopher Dorner, the Jodi Arias Trial, and the Boston Marathon Bombing. In 2010, Kaye spent three months in New Orleans investigating and reporting on the BP Oil Spill. There she also anchored live coverage of the spill for Anderson Cooper 360.
