Durant is a six-time Emmy Award-Winning Reporter for ABC 6 and FOX 28 News. She has also received numerous Associated Press Awards. She has worked as a reporter and anchor for ABC-affiliated WSYX, which also handles newscasts for the Fox affiliate WTTE (Channel 28) since 2000.
Prior to joining ABC 6 and FOX 28 in 2000, Durant was a reporter for WOWK from 1996 to 1998.

She has always stressed the importance of getting regular checks up and appropriate exams. “It’s that early detection – that’s why I’m here,” she said. “My cancer didn’t spread.”
After a series of treatments, Maria was able to overcome the disease. However, in May 2019, Maria announced on ABC 6/FOX 28 that a regular checkup found her breast cancer had returned.
After undergoing surgery she was able to become cancer-free, but that doesn’t mean her journey is over.
