After college, Amie worked as a legislative assistant at the state Capitol, but got a “there’s-more-to-life kind of feel ing,” she says. She hit the flea markets and explored the junking scene.
In 1998, Junk Gypsy Company based in Round Top, Texas was created to sell vintage flea market finds. The company, commonly known as Junk Gypsies because of their HGTV show are a fashion/art/design trio composed of sisters Amie and Jolie and their mother, Janie.
The Sikes team achieved considerable spotlight when Miranda Lambert hired them to redesign her Airstream tour bus in 2010, and then again for the design of Lambert’s wedding to Blake Shelton in 2011.
Their HGTV show, Junk Gypsies, aired in 2012. On the show, the sisters met with people who wanted their home to have junk appeal, which Jolie defines as a “really personal, really comfortable, lived-in style.” The goal is to fit the clients’ tastes, whether it’s “romantic, eclectic, colorful or unpredictable,” she says.
After meeting the clients, the sisters hit the road, taking a few detours on the junk search.
Among the highlights of the season was their redesign of Dierks Bentley’s Airstream tour bus, including a custom resin table made out of concert posters and a lighting fixture made from a motorcycle gas tank.
They have since been featured in another HGTV show called “Garage Sale Wars”

Junk Gypsy Company through a Facebook page updated on October 26, 2021 that the Junk Gypsy show has been cancelled.
“We’re so sad that we won’t be hosting prom again this Fall … turns out COVID is the only reason we’ve ever canceled prom. Not even that time I was 2 weeks after having a baby (pic 5) or that time Amie was 6 weeks after having a baby (pic 6). We showed up (babies in tow) and so did y’all-ready to celebrate under the flea market stars with a little Texas 2-steppin’, “the statement stated.
“We’ll sure miss y’all this year but never fear, we’re already dreaming up big plans for Junk-O-Rama Prom Spring 2022!”
